NMABE Strategic Plan
Mission Statement
The mission of NMABE, a diverse, dedicated community of education stakeholders, is to foster, encourage, and promote bilingualism for all children in an environment that nurtures the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of the state through advocacy, professional development, networking and current research application and dissemination.



NMABE believes that
  • Bilingualism is an asset to be encouraged and promoted.
  • Languages, cultures and heritages should be preserved, maintained and developed for all people in New Mexico.
  • Respect for all languages and acceptance of diversity is essential for a healthy society.
  • The teaching and learning of languages is vital for the education of all children.
  • The most important tool for learning is the language(s) that the child brings to school.
  • Focused professional development for stakeholders is vital for lifelong learning, understanding and growth.

Parameters

We will respect all languages, diverse peoples and cultures.

All activities will have a direct impact on children.

All expenditures will be justified and aligned with the strategic plan.



Objectives
To strengthen the NMABE organization to further foster and promote bilingualism.

To provide focused professional development on an annual basis.

To increase financial resources to further the objectives of the organization.


Strategies
We will increase membership by a minimum of 20% each year.

We will increase charter membership by a minimum of one per year.

We will increase participation by administrators in all professional development activities.

We will establish, promote and conduct a leadership academy on an annual basis.

We will identify and secure at least four sources of funding.
